Atticus 2006 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Select
The grapes for our 2006 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Select were handpicked from Yamhill Springs and Hawk’s View Vineyards, combining Wadenswil and 777 clones, with the majority coming from Yamhill Springs. Grapes from each vineyard were fermented separately and the wine that went into this blend spent 7 months in 67% new French oak. After racking and blending, the wine was transferred to more neutral oak (less than 20%) for 2 months before bottling on August 4th, 2007. This blend is a selection of a few barrels that showcased the riper and more concentrated fruit from Yamhill Springs this vintage.
Even from the barrel, our Select exuded dark brooding qualities. Dark fruits and warm barrel toast envelope the nose. Blackberries and plums are framed on the palate by a restrained oak structure and a long finish of brown spices and nutmeg.
110 cases of this wine were made.
